Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a strong, hands-on Financial Controller to take full ownership of CyberSift's finance function. This is the most senior finance role within the company and the go-to point for anything financial. The focus of the role is twofold: operational excellence—making sure the company runs well financially, that its processes are fit to scale, and that management and the board have timely, accurate, reliable information—and commercial partnership, working alongside the CEO to inform and shape the decisions that drive the business forward.

You will manage a small finance team and work closely with GO's finance and HR functions. This suits someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also thinking commercially and strategically about how to help the business grow.

Who You Are

Responsibilities

  • Partner the CEO on commercial and strategic decisions, bringing financial insight, challenge, and analysis to help shape the direction and growth of the business.
  • Own the month-end close and produce timely, accurate monthly management accounts and reporting packs for the CEO, board, and GO plc.
  • Prepare and manage statutory financial statements and coordinate the annual audit, ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and Maltese regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT, tax, and other statutory filings, working with external advisors and GO where appropriate.
  • Maintain a robust control environment that safeguards the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Own revenue assurance, ensuring that all revenue is accurately captured, billed, recognised, and collected, and that pricing and contract terms are correctly reflected in the numbers.
  • Own cash flow monitoring, forecasting, and management, giving the business clear visibility of its position at all times.
  • Manage billing, collections, and supplier payments with a focus on healthy working capital as the business scales, particularly given recurring-revenue (ARR) dynamics.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts.
  • Track performance against budget, analyse variances, and provide the CEO and leadership team with insight and recommendations.
  • Monitor and report on the KPIs that matter for a growing recurring-revenue business, giving the leadership team a clear read on performance.
  • Review, design, and implement finance processes, controls, and systems that enable the company to scale efficiently without adding unnecessary headcount or complexity.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve, and drive them through to completion.
  • Act as the go-to person within CyberSift for all financial matters, providing clear, practical guidance to the CEO, department leads, and the wider team.
  • Support commercial decision-making, pricing, and contract review from a financial perspective.
  • Liaise with GO plc finance on group reporting, consolidation, and any group-led corporate finance activity, contributing analysis and information as needed.
  • Manage and develop the finance team.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other external stakeholders.

Experience and Qualifications

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or comparable senior finance role.
  • A commercial mindset, with a track record of partnering senior leadership and influencing business decisions—not just producing the numbers.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and demonstrable experience owning statutory reporting and audits.
  • Excellent management and statutory reporting skills, with the ability to produce clear, decision-useful information.
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient, and comfortable operating in a small company where the Financial Controller does as well as oversees.
  • Strong cash flow and working capital management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to be the trusted financial adviser to the CEO and non-financial colleagues.

Desirable

  • Experience in a technology, SaaS, or recurring-revenue business, and familiarity with the associated metrics.
  • Exposure to M&A, fundraising, or other corporate finance activity
  • Experience working within a group structure or as part of a subsidiary reporting into a parent company.
